Written by Brikken Jensen Ever heard of the National Science Foundation? Chances are you probably have. Well NSF has granted St. Cloud State a large sum of money for the next 4 years to be handed out as scholarships to a variety of students. If you have two years left and are pursuing a degree in Information Assurance, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering then you may qualify! Be sure to apply! "Applications for a two-year scholarship of up to $12,000 will be accepted Aug. 1-Sept. 10. Select applicants will be interviewed about the middle of September. Scholarships will be funded by a $614,000 grant from NSF, the top federal agency supporting non-medical science and engineering research and education." (from the SCSU website) Last year I applied and received a similar scholarship from NSF as an Information Systems major. It's made a huge difference! In addition to the money, students will have opportunities to reach out to the community, attend conferences (which NSF may pay for), work on projects with other scholarship winners, and complete a research project to be presented at the spring Student Research Colloquium. This may sound like a lot, but it is completely doable and students gain experience and knowledge. Any questions, go ahead and post a comment! http://outlook.stcloudstate.edu/new-scholarships-for-computing-and-engineering-students/

Written by Brikken Jensen Earlier this month a new theme park launched their promotional video online and it's taken off. For those of you gamers out there who haven't heard of "The Void", hold on to you companion cubes, because you're about to lose your cake. No lie. "The Void" , short for "Vision of Infinite Dimensions" will open sometime in 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Check out the video (you'll want to go immediately!) But at what point is something too real? I mean, I'm not sure what it'd be like to come face to face with a "dragon". And be sure to visit their website and sign up for email for more information: http://thevoid.com/ |
